POL BACQUET

Becoming an Air France pilot was my dream ever since I was a young teenager, but life’s circumstances led me down the path of Architecture — a journey that allowed me to travel across much of the world.

During my university years, I had the privilege of working with Air France at Caracas Airport as a ground agent.
That fascinating and diverse experience gave me the chance to witness the final flights of the Boeing 707, to work alongside the majestic Boeing 747, and to spend two unforgettable years involved in the story of the legendary white bird… the Concorde — an extraordinary adventure that even allowed me to fly with Captain André Turcat himself. A memorable encounter.

After a professional rich career spent almost entirely abroad, I am now setting my bags down, and devoting part of my time to photographing Air France’s beautiful aircraft near the runways of Paris–Charles de Gaulle Airport, among others — as an aviation image hunter, driven by passion.

Over the years, I have also been fortunate to gain exceptional access to maintenance hangars, allowing me to photograph aircraft from within their technical and operational environments — revealing the hidden world behind these extraordinary machines.

Several cockpit journeys have also given me the opportunity to capture active flight decks in real operation, with illuminated instruments, navigation displays and the unique atmosphere experienced by flight crews during long-haul operations.

Through my photography, I seek not only to document aviation, but also to reveal the emotion, beauty and human dimension hidden behind these giants of the sky.
